A few pictures now of the landscape of Meskine and the surrounding areas. Usually, the province we're in (known as the 'Extreme North') would be a dust-bowl, but for the couple of months of the rainy season (August - September) everything becomes green.
As you can see, the landscape is flat, with mountains far north (this is the area going up to Chad). One of these is known locally as 'monkey mountain' - but apparently it's not advisable to climb it at the moment due to over-aggressive baboons!
All this area normally would be dust!
At the centre of the village is the central mosque:

The one thing not shown in these photos are the children who come out shouting 'Nazara' (white people) at us everywhere we go - wonderful!
