Around the hospital and the 'bloc'

I thought I might show you round the hospital a little in this blog post: and in particular the surgical 'bloc' (the operating theatre).

It's an amazing place: male and female wards, physiotherapy, pediatrics and maternity, as well as an X-ray area and a lab for testing. The various buildings are arranged off this main 'street':

Patients pay for their treatment and for each night they stay in the hospital (you can pay a little bit extra for a 'boite', a sort of separate room), so of course the whole family comes in order to cook, clean and look after the needs of the patient: the grounds of the hospital are usually full of people sitting around like this:

The surgical 'bloc' is a separate building behind big iron doors with this sign (basically translated as: 'do not come in unless you have to, bad things happen inside!'):

Inside you've got the operating theatre and a scrub-up area:

This is where Sarah works with her surgical team all day: today, if I remember right, including a nephrectomy!
